Why are people always in a rush to get somewhere? It’s like the destination is the only thing that matters. I guess if you were a courier (I actually used to be), then getting to your destination is very important. However, and I experienced this when I did that job, I was always rushing to get to my destination, so that I could get back and pick up another job. Wow, I don’t miss that rat race for a minute.
I guess we are sort of programmed in this society that results are what counts, therefore, if we get to a destination, or a goal if you will, then we have succeeded. We have won. We have conquered. There are just a few flaws in this thinking, especially when it comes to working out, and especially if you’re not in very good shape to start out with.
The problems are that we tend to focus only on the finish line. When we do this, we lose sight of too many important things. We might forget to warm up properly. We might try to put too much weight on the barbell, or try to run way too far when we’ve only reached a half a mile up to this point. It’s great to have goals, but they should be realistic goals, and if you’re inexperienced in something, then you should take time to gain information that will help you to figure out what the best course of action is. For lots of great information, see my site! There’s also something fantastic that we miss if all we see is the end of the line. We miss everything else that happens along the way! And I mean everything. If we learn to enjoy ourselves in the moment, and just appreciate the fact that we’re working out, and trying, then maybe we will stick with it longer. Bye for now. Be healthy, safe, and happy.
