Sometimes we get narrow-minded in our focus. If you haven’t worked out much in recent months or years, you may become really excited if you find yourself being able to stick to some sort of a routine. And don’t get me wrong, if you are, that is wonderful. Kudos to you my friend, for sure! It’s just that it has been my experience that I need to take care of my body, mind, and spirit. I need to have a balance. I don’t like to concentrate on just 1, or 2.
If I get into working out steadily, like I said, that is a wonderful thing. Invariably though, life’s struggles, pressures, obligations, whatever you want to call it, begin to call my name. At first they are a faint whisper, and I sort of ignore them because like now, I’ve recently been able to ride my bicycle outside again. I’m really enjoying it. It’s all new again. However, with time, all of life’s other responsibilities will keep coming. My point here is this. You must have heard by now how much of a killer stress is. Well, stress can also kill the party of just enjoying working out. That’s because I might not be taking care of the mental and spiritual aspects of my life. They are very important, and with a proper balance, I have been able to maintain an overall healthy lifestyle. If, or should I say when life comes knocking at my door, if I’ve meditated (and I usually have) that day, I find that I can handle the situation without the stress. If I don’t have the stress, my body and my mind, don’t break down.
I’m not saying this is for everybody. It’s just has worked wonders for me. Actually, yoga tends to have alot of the same affects for me.
